PHAT'S STANCES
MAKE GARDEN GROVE A DESTINATION
Our mayor's current economic policy is to put all our eggs in one basket and focus just about all our city's economic development efforts on the hotels on Harbor Boulevard in the Disneyland Resort District. This has proven disastrous. We need to support business growth in the entire city, and across many different industries.
Shopping centers in the rest of the city sit vacant; small businesses are struggling to stay afloat in the middle of this pandemic; and Garden Grove lost about 25% of the city’s source of revenue when the hotels were forced to shut down. It's never a good idea to put all your eggs in one basket, and that's exactly what investing all of our economic development effort into the Harbor Boulevard hotels is doing.
If elected mayor, I will immediately redirect our economic development efforts to expand businesses across the entire city, and in a variety of different industries. We need to fill our vacant shopping centers and make Garden Grove a destination.
FIGHT ADUs AND HIGH DENSITY HOUSING
I strongly oppose ADUs, high density housing, and the problems that flow from overbuilding apartments, condos, and allowing the conversion of single family homes into apartments. I have voted against allowing ADUs in Garden Grove, when the current mayor threw up his hands and said he had no other choice but to allow them. In America, there is always a choice, and I vow to fight against the overcrowding and congestion of our neighborhoods.
SUPPORT OUR POLICE, FIRE, AND EMS
As your councilman, I have always stood up and protected those who protect us.
Without public safety, there can be no strong economy and no first-world quality of life.
The Garden Grove Police Department has been unfairly attacked for something that happened over a thousand miles away. Our officers are some of the best of the best, and I stand behind them fully. As your Mayor, I pledge to never give into peer pressure and mob rule. So long as our officers follow the law, GGPD's policies, and their training, I will always stand with them.
The Orange County Fire Authority and CARE Ambulance Service are likewise vital city services that our residents depend on in life or death situations. I pledge to always give them the support they need to do their jobs.
