MEET PHAT

PUBLIC SERVICE IS MY WAY OF GIVING BACK TO THE COUNTRY THAT GAVE ME EVERYTHING

In 1975 the communists seized control of Saigon. I was forced to escape the violent atrocities of the Viet Cong murderers on a small boat packed shoulder-to-shoulder with others patriots. We didn't know where we were going, but we knew it was no longer safe to stay in Vietnam.

Eventually our boat drifted into the sight of the United States military and we all rejoiced. The American sailors took us aboard, clothed us and fed us, and we were accepted into the United States as political refugees, and I became a proud American.

Despite not having a penny to my name, or knowing a word of English, the American people took me in, accepted me, and supported me restarting my life here.

I have since founded a successful tech company that has contracts with Fortune 500 companies and major government institutions. I married the love of my life, started a family, and became active in bettering our community.

America is truly the land of opportunity, and my volunteerism and public service is my way of giving back to the country that gave me everything.

This is my story of finding the American Dream.
